Our spiritual Relationships

What is the relationship between Jesus and His Father?

What is our relationship today to Jesus and the Father?

We can get clarification from the bible which pictures Jesus and God as far more than Father and Son and pictures our relationship to the Holy Trinity a much greater one than that of the “creator of humanity” and the end result, as we understand humanity to be.

Within these relationships, that are seemingly independent, there is a supernatural melding of characteristics. These characteristics, though impossible for even Believers to fully comprehend , affords us an awareness which significantly impacts our lives here on earth and will impact us in our next life also…

When we think of “melding” physical properties, in a shop or lab, we completely combine or blend two or more elements. ... the important part of this is that when one thing melds into another, it loses its separate characteristics and blends slowly into the new substance and the true molecular origin of the process often isn't clear… We only understand that it has taken place.

That being said,
Consider this process as we apply it to our understanding of the integrated relationships, for us spiritually, between the father, the Son , the Holy spirit.

Jesus makes several statements which tells us what his relationship with the Father was…

In John 10:9 – He references His power..

Jesus says “I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.”

Jesus is the “gate” he is also the “gate keeper”… He clarifies this later in

John 14:6

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

So Jesus is the gate and the gatekeeper, he is man and God, It is easy to see how he can be all things to all people…

Considering John 6 that we just referenced,

Have you ever silently entertained this question; should we pray directly to God or Jesus ?

If you have you may consider the following:

If we acknowledge that Jesus is the son of God..

If we believe in the Father, Son and Holy Ghost as one,

if we believe that Jesus is in God and God is in him so that if we see Jesus we also see God and

if we pray in the name of Jesus,

if we pray in the spirit of Jesus,

if we follow the example of Jesus in prayer…..

then we also pray to God.

The best news is that when we consider God’s time, infinity, it is reasonable to believe that our soul inspired prayers do not degrade or expire over time. Our prayers will become who we are as we transition from a worldly life to a life nourished by the integration of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, in our hearts and in our lives..If we are held accountable for our works on the day of judgement how much more will we be remembered for and identified by, our eternal prayers to Him… ?

John 8

12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying,” I am the light of the world”:

He went on to say….”he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

If we are walking in Jesus’ footsteps then His light will shine through us and we too will be a light in the world for all to see…

John chapter 3 is one of the most important in the entire gospel. Many crucial ideas are explained in this passage, including the role of Jesus as Savior. After the loud, public commotion at the temple, John transitions to a quiet, nighttime discussion. These verses, make it clear that Christ—and Christ alone—is the means of salvation for the entire world. This text also states that those who reject Jesus are rejecting God.

John 3:3, KJV: "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

What is being born again? It is more than a change in goals and attitudes..

Being born again is having a change or transformation of the soul and heart made possible by the work of God’s Spirit. One’s soul is the part of our being that consist of three things: the mind (or its disposition), emotions (feelings), and our will (what we determine).

This spiritual makeover when we become “born again “ is a change in the way we think, the way we manage our emotions, and choices we make by our will. We become powerfully one with the Holy Spirit as we are in the spirit as it is in us.

We were created in the image of God, Jesus also said “he that hath seen me hath seen the Father. Our spirit exists somehow, somewhere within us” as an example of the wondrous spiritual melding of life that God has created. And “we”, meaning all of humanity, are therefore connected by this thread of spirituality, and “we” to our world, for it is also created by God for us. But even more significant , not only are we connected to it we were created from it and our bodies eventually will return to it. Ashes to ashes and dust to dust. We are connected to all things…The Father..The Son..And the Holy Ghost are also connected to all things…

The New Testament of the Bible never explicitly refers to the Trinity as such, but it does contain a number of references like in Matthew 28:19 which says…“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. “ Matthew 28:19

Take a moment this morning to think about our sun. We tend to take it for granted, because it's up there in the sky every day. But our local star really is amazing. It's 93 million miles away, and 864,000 miles across. About one million earths could fit inside! That boggles my mind. And the sun is hot. At the core of the sun the temperature is 28,799,540 degrees Fahrenheit! (2)

Without the heat and light of the sun, of course, life as we know it could not exist on the earth. The sun is essential. But the real Light of the world infinitely more essential. The sun is amazing. But the real Light of the world infinitely more amazing. That light is Jesus….

We are extensions of what “is” or “was”..We are past, present and future.. We are extended and melded and become not just one created in the image of God or not just one “Like” God but one who has been purified in spirit so that we have merged with him and He with us and from this spiritual melding we can radiate this light as did Jesus when he said “I am the light of the world.” But we have to be willing for this relationship to take place. And this is why we have to submit totally to God’s will…

1 Peter 1:7

“so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honour at the revelation of Jesus Christ”; This high honour to be one with Jesus comes at a price. We must be cleansed and purified and must be willing submit, to give our hearts completely to God so that we may have our heart’s desire and merge with the Father, Son and Holy spirit…..May we walk in righteousness and be a light also in the world…

Paul writes:

That the purpose of Jesus ‘ baptism with the Holy Spirit is to incorporate new believers into his body and provide an opportunity for affirmation or renewal to the commitment to Jesus Christ for all in the church, which was established by Paul in his instructions to the Corinthians: “For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body,so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit”.. How perfectly consistent with our personal integration or melding with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit !..One Body ..One Spirit…

We celebrate this morning with the remembrance of the sacrifice that Jesus made for us on the cross .

“For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 1 Corinthians 11:23-24

The Bread

Father, we ask you in the name of your Son Jesus , to bless and sanctify this bread to the souls of all those who receive it, that they may eat in remembrance of the body of your Son, and witness to you, O God, that they are willing to take upon them the name of your Son, and always remember him, and keep the commandments which he has given them, that they may always have his Spirit to be with them. Amen. Pass out bread you have set aside for your group, and eat. Continue the reading --

Prayer of Offering

O Jesus, receive our poor offering.

You have given yourself to us,

We now give ourselves to you:

give you our body that it may be chaste and pure,

We give you our soul that it may be free from sin,

We give you our hearts that it may always love you,

We give you every breath that we shall breathe and especially our last,

I give you myself in life and in death

May we be yours for ever and ever.

When we feel abandoned help us to know that you are there,

When we feel afraid help us to know that you are with us..

When we are confused help us to understand..

Let us feel your presence around us and in us continually…

Help us to be born again as a child and of your holy spirit…

Bless our efforts today and grace us with wisdom to live in accordance with a greater understanding of your word…

We ask all in Jesus name…

Amen
